J-1 Visa Prices
Several expenses are involved and mandatory as part of your J-1 visa process:
Placement
$699-$1299
(optional)
Don't have a company yet? We charge a fee of anywhere between $699 and $1299 for a placement service. The actual price is determined by your country of residence. There will be a $200 non-refundable deposit to get the process started, and this amount will be deducted from the full price later. If you already have your host company, then this fee will not be applicable to you. We will schedule a bi-weekly call with you to discuss the progress and results of finding a company for you so you stay as informed as possible.
J-1 Visa
$1299-$2399
Health Insurance
$79/month
The price for your J-1 visa will depend on the duration of your program in the USA.
Please click the exact duration you're interested in to reveal the exact fees and included services.
Any program of 3 months or less will be subject to J-1 visa fees of $1299. Programs of 4 to 6 months will be subject to visa fees of $1599. You do not pay the full amount until after all required visa documents are approved. However, you will still be required to pay a $200 deposit to start the process. This amount will be deducted from the full price later. Are you finding services cheaper anywhere else? Then we'll match the price so you can still enjoy all of our services as mentioned below — just send us proof of the fees you would receive elsewhere!

The following services will be included in the full price for your J-1 visa: • Review of required visa process documents. • Creation of Form DS-7002 (Training Plan). • Release of Form DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility). • Instructions to schedule an in-person visa interview appointment at US Embassy or US Consulate. • Online visa interview preparation (common questions you'll be asked by the consular officer and documents check). • Housing assistance to find your place to live in the United States. • Instructions on how to apply for a social security number (SSN) and a US bank account, which are both required when you get paid in the USA. • Instructions on how to apply for a US drivers license (not required, but possible). • Instructions on how to report non-resident income taxes in the USA during tax season. • Instructions on how to start and activate a US phone plan so you'll have a working US phone number. • Full time availability for any questions you have before, during and after your program in the United States.
The US government requires all participants to have US health insurance, even if you are covered through insurance from your home country. Our sponsor partner will automatically enroll you into the health insurance plan and there is nothing you need to do. The name of the insurance company is International Medical Group (IMG), provided through Envisage Insurance Services. Your insurance provider network will be UnitedHealthcare, and your insurance group number will be EGNFF00539133. Review the 2025 insurance brochure by clicking here.
SEVIS Fee
$220
The US government requires all J-1 (interns/trainees) and F-1 (student visa) participants to pay $220 for a Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) registration fee. SEVIS is a US government database for all J-1 and F-1 visa holders which is where all program details are stored.
Visa interview
$185
All J-1 visa applicants must appear in-person at a US embassy/consulate in their home country for an in-person visa interview before getting their US visa issued. The US government will charge a fee of $185 for this appointment and is paid directly to the US embassy/consulate.
Site Visit
$250
(If Applicable)
In most cases we are able to avoid this fee, but in rare cases a visa sponsor may require an in-person site visit at your US host company. This typically only happens at smaller companies that we have never worked with before, and companies who have under 25 full time employees + a gross revenue of under $3 million US dollars. The purpose of a site visit is to confirm a high-quality and safe work environment to international participants.
Other Expenses To Consider
Potential participants should know there are more expenses than the above-mentioned fees. We offer high-quality programs at companies who are able to provide compensation for performed work by the intern/trainee. This compensation will cover for daily-life expenses. At Correspond, we will assist you with everything related to your J-1 program: finding housing, getting a car (if needed) and selecting phone plans. You can reach out at any time with any questions you may have.

Air Fare
You will have to purchase your own plane ticket to the United States. A one-way ticket is sufficient and the fees could range between $300 and $1000 depending on where you are flying from.

Housing
Housing in larger cities in the United States can be expensive depending on the city or state that you are going to. Be ready to pay at least $700/month (private room) to $1400/month (studio or apartment).

Living Expenses
Other expenses that you will have to keep in mind while living on your own in the United States: a monthly phone plan, food & drinks, and transportation from your residence to your host company.
- Receiving Compensation -
You can agree on any compensation amount directly with your host company. The sponsor will approve any amount, and even unpaid programs are allowed as long as you can show evidence that you will be able to maintain yourself in the United States financially. Keep in mind that an internship stipend (up to $1000 per month) is more common for short-term programs of up to 6 months. If your program is at least 12 months, then earning at least minimum wage should be expected. Minimum wage is different in every city or state. Contact us to find out how much minimum wage is for a specific city or state you'd like to go to.
Initial contacts are always free of charge.
