Requirements

Companies should be prepared to meet several compliance requirements when hiring international participants on J-1 visas. Employers are generally required to provide basic company information, and outline the participant's work responsibilities. Correspond will assist employers on this part to make the process as easy and seamless as possible.

International participants must be working in a professional environment and having access to their own dedicated workspace that includes a desk to work from. It must be in an office setting and retail work is not allowed by the visa sponsor.

Expectations

1

Work Hours

International participants are expected to work at least 32 hours per week. Three of the five days must be conducted on-site at the office, and the participant is allowed to work at from home for up to two days in accordance to J-1 program regulations.

Companies are allowed to determine their own compensation amount for the participant. We recommend a compensation of $500-$1000 per month for short term internships, and at least minimum wage for programs of 12 months and longer.
